My Lists FAQ

Welcome to the Frequently Asked Questions page for the My Lists iPhone App. Below you will find a list of commonly asked questions and responses from the developers of this App. If you do not see an answer to your issue in this list feel free to email us and we will do our best to send you a response regarding your issue.

Q: Will this App sync with my PC or Mac to back up data from lists?
A: Currently we do not offer support for a desktop based version of this App.
However, we have included the ability to email your lists to yourself in order to keep copies of information you wish to retain. A desktop tie-in may be implemented in a different version in the future for users who are wanting more from this app so check back with us!
Q: Why do I only get part of my lists, items, or notes when I email them to myself?
A: To access the mail system on the iPhone, your data is sent through an url string to the email program and placed in the appropriate fields. While we have eliminated the breaks that were caused by the "&" character which closes out the body and subject areas of the email (now replaced by "-And-" in emailed items), there are still a number of foreign characters that will cause this problem.
To avoid this problem use URL-safe / standard characters in your list names, items, and notes until we determine a better solution.
Q: Why am I unable to click the blue arrow button when in a list to view the item notes?
A: A common issue that users seem to have with this program involves touching the blue arrow button while inside a list without checking/unchecking the item they are trying to access. Unfortunately the way these items function is different from that of the top level lists and the touchable area around the buttons differs as a result.
We have attempted to remedy this and have made the activation area of the button larger. Unfortunately it seems that this does not completely eliminate the surrounding check mark area to the far right. Some, but not all users, have trouble hitting the blue arrow in the list view. If you are experiencing issues trying to access the notes field, after some practice you'll notice a "sweet spot" on the top and to the left of the button that will cause it to respond correctly.
Q: Is it possible to attach reminders or alerts to the list items or add them to the calendar?
A: At this time it is currently not possible for any App to access the iPhone's built in Calendar or alarm functions. This prevents us from setting any sort of phone alarms that would be triggered in response to a My List item date. Some people have asked about the possibility of sending alerts as text messages but Apple has not released the "Push" functionality that would allow this to be incorporated yet. This would also require a service and may not be the most effective way to handle alerts.
We recommend a simple solution of manually adding dates to the end of time sensitive items or lists.
Q: Is it possible to reorder my lists or list items?
A: Yes. To reorder entries simply click the "Edit" button on the toolbar of either section. This will put the lists into edit mode allowing you to delete items by pushing the red circle (this is done by swiping an item normally) and also allows you to reorder items by clicking and dragging the three horizontal bars that appear to the right of each entry.
A number of users have asked about the posibility of ordering alphabetically with a button and this is something that is being considered for a possible future update.
Q: I am having trouble viewing long notes in the space provided, is there a way to scroll up in the text entry area?
A: The text area for the notes behaves as a normal text entry item for the iphone and can be scrolled by touching inside the area and dragging your finger up or down. However, upon testing it appears there may be a minor bug that does not set it as a scrollable field until around the fifth line of text is being entered. Prior to that, users may notice that one of the lines has been pushed out of the screen while typing on the fourth or so line but the scroll feature is not activated and the only way to see the first line is to move the cursor to the first line with the magnifying glass. We are looking into this further.
